Chailey Parish Magazine notes that William Burton is serving his King and Country in the first nominal roll published in October 1914.

In October 1915 he is recorded as Burton, Quarter Master Sergeant W, RFA, France and in July 1917 he is noted as a regimental sergeant major.  This information then appears monthly up to and including the final published roll call in July 1919.

I have been unable to identify William Burton on census returns but he is possibly 15152 Battery Quartermaster Sergeant (and later Transport Warrant Officer 2nd Class) William Burton as noted on the National Archives’ medal information card index.
