I have been unable to date, to
trace John A C Wilson and it is unclear from the entry he left in Nurse Oliver’s album, whether he was a patient at Hickwells or Beechlands. I think it likely however that he was a Beechlands' patient in either late
1917 or 1918 as the other three men who share this album page with him can all be dated as patients in the last two years
of the war. His medal index card also shows his entitlement to the British War
and Victory Medals only which indicates that he served abroad on or after 1st January 1916. His entry reads:
My heart’s in the Highlands,
my heart isn’t here.
My heart’s in the Highlands,
a chasing the deer.
Chasing the wild deer, and following the Roe,
My heart’s in the Highlands,
where ever I go.
