F Willmott was a patient at Hickwells.  His entry in Nurse Oliver’s album reads:

33612. Sapper. F. Willmott. R.E.

Reverie

When the golden sun is setting

On that Battlefield field in

The West

Perchance some thoughts will

Come to me, of the place that

I love best

And if by chance I am wounded

and blinded, I might

possibly be

God would be kind, if he’d

let me keep, the Memories

of sweet Chailey.

He shares this page with 6334 Private John Thomas of the 2nd South Staffordshire Regiment and 88802 Driver George William Deer of The Royal Field Artillery who have also left entries.

Sapper Willmott’s Medal Index Card at the National Archives shows that he enlisted on 8th February 1915 and was discharged on 17th May 1916 due to sickness.  His Medal Index Card gives the additional information that he was in B Company.  No medal roll numbers are noted on is card although there is a reference to list RE/81 which is for his Silver War Badge.  This was dated at Chatham on 8th November 1916.
