There is very little information available about this man.

Chailey Parish Magazine notes, Brown, Private A, 25th Norfolk Regiment in its April 1917 edition and this information is repeated up to and including the final roll call published in July 1919.

There was no 25th Norfolk Regiment.  The 2/5th Norfolk Regiment was a Territorial Force battalion formed at East Dereham in October 1914 and disbanded in May 1918.  It never left Britain and, when it was disbanded, the personnel were transferred to the 4th (reserve) battalion.

The 1901 census of England and Wales notes a seven year old Arthur Brown living at South Ham, North Common, Chailey.  However, without further documentary evidence it is impossible to say whether this is Private A Brown or indeed, Gunner A Brown who is also mentioned in the parish magazine.
